Secrets Within Secrets – Diving Deeper into Secrets of Power

Updated: 3 days ago

Secrets of Power, the new set for the card game Star Wars: Unlimited, takes you away from the front lines of the battlefield and places you in the midst of the political maneuvering and hidden intrigues of galactic power. This expansion revolves around power, manipulation, and clever play — as if you are a spy or master strategist in the shadows.

Chancellor Palpatine — The Plot Unraveled

In this set, Chancellor Palpatine is not someone who simply dominates the battlefield. His strength lies in controlling the game itself: he sets the pace, the strategy, and determines when the right moment to strike is.

Through his leadership ability, you can specifically search for Plot cards in your deck — cards that help you execute a larger plan. Once Palpatine has enough resources (around 7), he makes it cheaper to play important plots, allowing you to build a significant advantage.

A popular tactic, for example, is to deploy him, play free extra cards, and pin down your opponent with cards that take away tempo. Even a seemingly humorous card like Jar Jar Binks can make Palpatine surprisingly powerful when used at the right moment.

In short: you play Palpatine as a master planner — you lure your opponent out, gradually build an advantage, and then strike hard.

Leia Organa — The Power of Revelation

Leia Organa plays differently: she uses information as her weapon. With a mechanic called disclose, she can reveal cards in her hand to her opponent to gain advantages.

What makes Leia unique is that you can reveal the same card multiple times. This creates a kind of psychological game: your opponent sees what you could play, but does not know exactly when or whether you will do it. This makes Leia ideal for those who enjoy bluffing and control.

To make the most of this, you often want to keep your hand full — for example, with cards that allow you to draw extra or provide rewards when defeated. Additionally, units that benefit from experience tokens work excellently with Leia.

With the right combination of disclose cards, you can significantly limit your opponent's tempo and options, allowing you to dictate the game.

Dedra Meero — Calculating Pressure

Dedra Meero demonstrates that subtle planning and building pressure are often more effective than brute force. Her style revolves around making opponents face increasingly difficult choices: give up a unit, lose resources, or allow Dedra to grow in power.

She can create an early disadvantage for your opponent in the game, and with clever combinations of cards, her pressure continues to mount. Dedra is ideal for players who enjoy predictable moves, where each action leads to the next logical step.

Summary

Secrets of Power invites players to delve into intrigue, bluffing, and strategic planning. Whether you're a master strategist like Palpatine, controlling information with Leia, or methodically increasing pressure with Dedra — this set revolves around the clever use of mechanics and the right moment to strike.
